Do not try to take the domain tests in lieu of the longer practice tests. I was starting to run out of time for studying and tried that tactic. It was a bad idea because the domain tests are very, very detailed. The results were some morale / confidence killing low practice test scores. I had to stop the domain tests after chapter 5 because my morale/confidence was destroyed.Take a practice test, then drill down with domain tests, and then take another practice test. As far as CISSP test prep, this book is one of the cheapest ones available. It's worth it even if you don't use the online tests (I didn't). Big thumbs up to the earlier reviewers who mentioned that the practice questions are unique and not in the Sybex book.
A high quality material for the exams. This is the most authentic material for the Cissp.I wish I had this book earlier. I got this book 5 days to my exams.i took all the tests within the 4 days time frame and my average score was 69.23. Make sure you understand the material with a score of 75 % + before you take the test.
I passed the exam on 2/10 with this book and its pair - CISSP official guide book. Although it doesn't account for 100% of the CISSP test, I think it accounts for 90% of the test. You should keep up with the recent topics in information security on top of these two books. Get yourself familiarized with the problems in this book because you'll see the similar styles in the actual test. But it would not suffice to study only this book. You should read 2-3 books to pass the exam.
Buy this and go through it inside out multiple times. Understand why each answer is right and you'll pass the test.*NOTE.. ISC2 has recently announced they're moving change to CAT for the CISSP. They claim the content should be the same but the format, obviously, changes. The CISSP used to be an endurance test and this book trained for that with the two full length tests. Not sure what/how/etc. the change impacts the usefulness of this book.
The book is a great gap finder for your knowledge but unfortunately, after taking the test I found it to overlap with about 20% of what I got on my test. The testing format has changed and will change again on April 1, 2018, so be careful about using sample tests as the basis for preparation. Use it for the basis of finding gaps in your knowledge that you can go after and fill.
I passed the CISSP Exam, but I really feel this book did not help. The questions focused on knowing small details that did not appear on the exam. As a result, a lot of time was wasted attempting memorize specific acronyms, steps, or statistics that are not part of the CISSP.Don't get me wrong, the information is helpful, but it is very easy to get miss the forest for the trees. There were a week when I was focused on memorizing every NIST standard mentioned in this book because they would ask for the first step, last step, etc. Watching the CISSP videos at Cybrary by Kelly Handerhan helped to get me back on the right track.Overall, maybe two questions from this book were similar to what is one the real thing. Understanding the concepts at a high level and being able to think like a manager a far more important than memorizing everything technical detail this book would have you do. I found the Eric Conrad book and the Cybray videos to be far more important study guide and questions from the CISSP Pocket Prep app to be more relevant.
Don't waste your time doing the practice tests in the book. Go straight to the Wiley companion site where they have a test engine with all the questions in the book and many more. Only reason for 4 stars instead of 5 is because the test engine doesn't keep very good stats. There is no summary for individual tests or how you scored in the different domains. All you get is a pie chart that shows your correct/incorrect percentage overall. For example: if you took 3 tests of 100 questions each and scored 80% on each one, the pie chart would show that you took 300 questions and scored 80%. That's it. Used this along with freepracticetests/cccure test engine for a variety of different questions.
There are many different providers for practice tests for the CISSP. I wanted to ensure I was getting questions close to what is being given on the actual exaam. I am pleased with the quality and difficulty of the questions. Many of them challenge your knowledge of the subject matter to ensure that you know the content. Don't skimp on your preparation. Get this and test yourself repeatedly until you have consistently passing grades.
