I got this book for my artist wife who had a question about how to properly space posts in perspective. She enjoyed the book and now has the answer to her question as well as other helpful lessons about drawing and perspective. As a retired mechanical engineer I thought I'd just browse through the book. I read it cover to cover and was motivated to start sketching. It is clearly written and spiced with humor.I now look at things more perceptively thanks to Mr. Metzger.
Interesting book with a useful method. Thanks!
I am a perspective-impaired artist and I admit to it. This is a good book to fix that issue. It contains quite a bit of actual - very easy - exercises to help you learn perspective. It can even be appropriate for an elementary school child -- somewhere between 8 and above, if they like to read or are very interested in art.
This book really is helping me to understand perspective. As an aspiring artist I had not a clue. I don't come from a background of having taken art classes all of my life so a lot of things did not make sense to me. My professor suggests this book from her syllabus and I have to say what a jewel it has been for me. I highly recommend this book if you are learning to draw as part of your library.
I like this book, however, I bought it at the same time as his "The Art of Perspective", and I really like that book more."The Art of Perspective", has more pictures/examples and step-by-step set-ups. Which is more helpful to me as a beginner. "Perspective Without Pain" has lots of useful information, however, for a newby or a novice I would probably recommend the "The Art of Perspective".
I was very pleased with this purchase. The reading is easy and instructions were not complicated. Lots of examples and hands on lessons. I would highly recommend this book for new artists as well as a refresher for those more experienced.
If your an artist and need to learn about perspective, this book will help you. It taught me new trips and tricks about perspective which I was struggling with. Great for beginners to intermediate artists
I read through this book and now I am starting to work on the lessons. So far what I have read and done has helped me understand the theory of perspective. The lessons are time consuming but I found them to be very beneficial.
